Craven young carers had fun with ‘veggie sculptures’ at youth club last night. As it is Carers’ Week we talked about what it’s like to be a young carer and some thoughts shared included – ‘It’s not always just the physical help, but it’s the emotional stress that can be the hardest’……’Being a young carer gives us more skills – like empathy, and being able to cope- and having a good sense of humour helps’. Young carers really are Awesome.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the staff and students of St Aidan’s school who raised £500 for Young Carers through a non uniform day.
We support around 30 young carers at St Aidans through one to one emotional support and respite opportunities. This fundraising wouldn’t have been possible without the enthusiasm of our young carers at the school who campaigned to make it happen. Thank you very much.
The important question is….What would you like the money to be spent on?! Let us know your ideas 🙂
Our young carer, Emily, 16, is awesome. She spoke live on Radio York about being a young carer and the support our service has provided her with. Radio York breakfast presenter Kay Crewdson is running the famous Knaresborough Bed Race with Raworths Solicitors to raise money for our young carers. Thank you Emily for speaking so well and raising awareness of young carers. You’re Awesome!
A big thank you to Knaresborough Rotary Club who very kindly funded our mega fun filled day trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Our teenage young carers had lots of fun on the big dipper, pepsi max, grand national and all the other classics! They were all well and truly worn out and slept the whole way home. Thank you Knaresborough Rotarians – you’re awesome!
Thank you to Matrix Bowling at Skipton for supporting young carers with discounted rates. We had a great time.
A very big THANK YOU to David and Pam Sneath (Maisie’s grandparents) who kindly gave £300 to Craven Young Carers. The Sneaths celebrated their golden wedding and very generously asked for money to be donated to The Carers’ Resource Young Carers rather than have gifts. We’ll put the money to good use – a day at the trampoline park this summer!
We just want to say a massive thank you to Harry and Stephen two of our Young adult carers. They put our names forward at their local school and asked if St Aidans school Harrogate would do a non-uniform day for us on Friday 31st March. St Aidans very kindly agreed and lots of money was raised! (still totally this up!!) Thank you!!
What truly impressed us was that Harry ans Stephen took the time out of their busy lives to think of others. They value the support we offer them and they wanted to give back. This means so much to us and the money raised will really make a huge difference!!
Thank you boys and Thank you St Aidans !!!
Craven Young Carers enjoyed a day in London. As well as a spin on the London Eye, they spent time in the Imperial War Museum and had a tour of the Houses of Parliament. Many thanks to the people who donated funds to enable this trip – Friends are Us in Cross Hills, The Haworth and Worth Valley Rotary and Libby.
