Craven young carers had a great time at youth group a few weeks ago. They played the usual party games of Pass the Parcel, Who am I, and eating chocolate with a knife and fork, and of course, they decorated cupcakes.
What’s the celebration you say?? Well it’s the Carers’ Resource 20th Anniversary!! So happy Birthday TCR, let the celebrations continue.
We had an Italian themed Budz week recently to celebrate one of our volunteers, Mikey. Mikey is visiting England for a short time and will soon be heading back to his homeland of Italy. To thank him for all his efforts we cooked delicious pasta with garlic, basil, olive oil & tomatoes – the colours of the Italian flag. We also decorated the famous ‘boot’ of Italy in VERY stylish, crafty ways, and learnt lots about the country.
Hettie Flynn our Young Adult Carer worker and her brother Joe gave up their time on Sunday the 10th May to run The Leeds half marathon. They ran an impressive 13.1 miles to raise money for our Young Carers in Harrogate and Craven! They raised a total of £280.00 and donations are still coming in! We are so proud of their efforts and that is why they are both totally AWESOME!!!
Our Young Adult Carer Sophie Wilson went on local radio station Stray FM in a bid to raise awareness of young adult carers and our project to support them aimed exclusively for 16-25 year olds. Sophie did a great job, and was bursting with pride once she heard herself played out live on air!
Some of young carers from our Budz group have designed t-shirts which could be worn at a national young carer festival 2015. The winning design will be worn by over 1500 young carers’ at the weekend event this summer. Our young carers let their creative side blossom as they designed their t-shirts. Watch this space for news if we win!
Fab day of pampering for some of our young carers courtesy of Saks Ilkey – thanks!
